Mumbai’s Sanjay Gandhi National Park

Mumbai’s Sanjay Gandhi National Park makes for the perfect half-day retreat from the fast pace of the city. There is a minimal admission fee of $2. Once inside, you can opt to walk the 5 mile trail, or pay $5 roundtrip transportation to the Kanheri Caves, dating back to 1st Century BC. The park itself is comprised of 40 square miles, and is located in northern Mumbai, curiously surrounded by the dense city on all sides. The park is home to thousands of species of plants and animals, which if you are lucky can be spotted on the hike up to the top. No more tigers, but keep your eye out for crazy monkeys in the trees above!
